Analysis of Andrew Jackson and Martin Van Buren - 1818 Words
The presidents have always played a crucial role in American politics and are known for their roles in unifying the nation. They are glorified for their charisma and ability to lead, but even these brilliant men make economic, political, and social blunders. Andrew Jackson, who was in office from 1829-1837, was a president of many firsts as he was the first frontier president, first to have a ââ¬Å"kitchen cabinetâ⬠, and first to use a pocket veto. Jackson was later succeeded by his vice president, Martin Van Buren. Van Buren, who was in office from 1837-1841, was known for his shrewd political skills. Both these men laid down the foundations for a stronger, more centralized national government with methods that garnered mixed responses. Andrewâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦This later led to the Indianââ¬â¢s large exodus where thousands suffered. Although Jacksonââ¬â¢s decision allowed for the nation to expand, it was at the enormous expense of the Indians. He forcefully kicked them off their land and treated them as if they were livestock that did not deserve basic human rights. Jackson served for two terms and remained incredibly popular even after resigning. He was the true epitome of a poor, country boy who grew up to become president. He was a self-made man that used his presidency to help ordinary people rather than the rich. Although he had he helped the nation to grow, it came at the sacrifice of so many innocent lives. His popularity with the people led to the election of Martin Van Buren, who was his vice president and once the most powerful member of Jacksonââ¬â¢s cabinet as Secretary of State. At the very beginning of Van Burenââ¬â¢s presidency, he faced the first major economic crisis that America had experienced - the Panic of 1837. This fiscal fiasco was triggered by Jacksonââ¬â¢s withdrawal from the Second Bank of the United States and deposition into state banks of federal funds. Consequently, there was reckless speculation by the banks in lands westward (Wilentz 119). The bubble finally burst in 1837 and hundreds of businesses and banks failed, causing the worst depression of the economy at the time. Mountain Man Brewing Company Case Analysis Free Essays
Mountain Man Brewing Company does not want to go another year with revenue lost from Mountain Man Lager. By adding a light beer to the product line it could gain loyalty from a younger crowd and attract more then just the workingman. At the same time he does not want to lose the brand equality that has taken years to create. We will write a custom essay sample on Mountain Man Brewing Company Case Analysis or any similar topic only for you Order Now He is also faced with solid monopolies in the beer world that make it hard to keep up. Chris is faced with a hard decision, will taking a chance and changing the image really be the right move for Mountain Man. By introducing a new product line called Mountain Man Light the company would be able to reach a broader audience. They would no longer focus on the workingman, they would appeal to a younger generation of beer drinkers. They would also be able to gain a woman base, women being extremely heath cautious would be more likely to purchase the beer if it came to a ââ¬Å"lightâ⬠version with fewer calories. By launching a Mountain Man Light it would also play down most peoples perception of the Mountain Man Original being too strong and only a manly mans beer. Mountain Man Brewing Company is a beer for the workingman. It has been around since 1925 and has gained strong loyalty from the baby boomer generation. Mountain Man has strong brand awareness down south and if you asked anyone over the 21 they are more then likely able to recognize the name even if they do not drink it themselves. The brand has been able to stay in the game with strong competitors such as, Anheuser Bush, Miller, and Adolf Coors. The uniqueness of the taste along with the higher then average alcohol content is what makes its loyal customers coming back for more. One alternative to look at for the Mountain Man Brewing Company is to look and see how hard it would be to distribute it into restraints and local bars with the option to have it available on draft. By putting extra money into re-promoting the same recipe it would be a lot less costly. By offering specials at local bars such as dollar Mountain Manââ¬â¢s on Tuesday nights would introduce the beer to a younger generation. Since the younger generation is the one to target because they do not have a beer preference yet this is a way that could get them hooked and at the same time make them proud to share a six pack that both the young 21 year old and his 55-year-old dad would both enjoy by keeping the tradition of Mountain Man beer alive. Other alternatives could be to go with the Mountain Man Light and donââ¬â¢t play it safe what so ever. If youââ¬â¢re going to be successful, your products must be different. Mountain Man should use loud colors to attract people attention, along with changing up the shape of your average beer bottle. Other ways to not play it safe while promoting Mountain Man Light could be to use non-traditional shelving system. Instead of taking valuable shelving space away from Mountain Man place 6 or 12 packs in the middle of isles in a pyramid shape, that way people do not associate the two as much. My recommendation to the Mountain Man Brewing Company would be to keep the product just how it is and not introduce a Mountain Man Light. If a brand is able to last generation after generation there is a reason for this. Strong brand awareness is hard to come by with so many new beer products appearing on the shelves each times you walk into any convenience store. The recognizable taste and working man persona is what kept them in the game year after year. If the company wants to boost revenue and assure they last in the future I would look into prompting at local bars and giving the younger crowd a chance to try the beer and even change their old perception about it. West Virginiaââ¬â¢s beer should stay as just that and keep the tradition alive. How to cite Mountain Man Brewing Company Case Analysis, Papers

The New Mecca free essay sample
He admits falling in love with everything he perceived in Dubai even the hotels. As he continued talking about Dubai, he introduced the reader with the history of Dubai. He informs that few years ago there was only sand. Dubai has improved a lot in a very short amount of time. He gets amazed at the beauty of Dubai; however, he gets surprised twice the amount of that because of the difference between the reality of Dubai and what people think about Dubai. The author mentions numerous examples where he meets lower class working people and sees them suffering. However, he realizes that those lower class working people donââ¬â¢t apprehend that. They think they are lucky enough to stay in Dubai. The author finds this gap between what these people think is happening and whatââ¬â¢s happening in reality which makes him feel helpless and miserable. He expresses the urge of helping them in his essay; still ends up not doing it because according to him itââ¬â¢s not his job to fix it. We will write a custom essay sample on The New Mecca or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page The author starts his essay with what people think Dubai is. As he moves forward he talks about what the reality is behind all these misapprehensions. By the end of the essay he concedes that everyone has been victimized by this fallacy. The main focus of this essay is the realization of the author about this gap between the conceptuality and the reality about Dubai and how all these lower class people there are the victims of this. Throughout the authorââ¬â¢s journey in Dubai, he got to meet a lot of lower class people who have been working there for years. He got to talk to them and ask them personal questions to get to know them better. He came across people who originated there years ago with hopes and dreams of improving their lifestyle. They have been working hard ever since. The author tells the readers that sometimes these employees get their passport taken away by the people they work for. They work almost twenty four hours every week since they arrived here. Although, they donââ¬â¢t even get paid enough. They have been treated horribly. However these people donââ¬â¢t tend to be bothered by this at all. They assumes that they would have worse life if they there were back in home. When the author was talking to the Kenyan security guard who works fourteen hours a day he realized that these people donââ¬â¢t understand that they are not being treated the way they are supposed to. The author asked a waiter about when he wants to get married and when he wants to go back to is country. The waiter replied that we will earn more money and then heââ¬â¢d like to go back to get married. These people are needy. So they come here with the hope of having a better life. As they donââ¬â¢t know their rights and they come from worse environment, they upper class people take advantage of it by treating them poorly. Then these lower class suffering people do not recognize this for their lack of understanding. The author brings up political and terrorists issues near the end of his essay. He mentions all the countries around Dubai are in a messed up situation because of their several religion and fanatic ruling reasons. As Dubai is the only stable rich country among the region it progressed more than any countries ever did in that short amount of time. But then it raises the question that who is doing all these works and where is it even getting all these money from? At the dinner where the author was having a conversation about Dubai bank system, one person who knows all about these mentions that Al- Qaeda is not attacking Dubai because they have their money reserved here. In a result al- Qaeda helps Dubai and vice versa. After having that conversation with friends, the author came to the grasp that there might be more truth to learn about Dubai. This whole thing made him question himself more about whatââ¬â¢s right and wrong. The author understood that the world sees half the truth and thereââ¬â¢s this other half of the truth always hidden behind the curtain. This realization affected the author so bad that he ended up thanking the god for not giving him a critical mind to think more deeply about these. He stated, ââ¬Å"Good point, I say, thanking God in my heart that I am not a real Investigative Journalist. Dubai has been modernized in only last couple of years. Even though it has everything reorganized it still looks like an ancient city. Everyone falls in love with the place the moment they get here. The author mentioned that he feels amazing here and if he could he would never go back from there. He is not the only person to think that. The people that come from different region such as South Asia Africa to work there hope to stay there forever too. They think they are leading a great life there. They donââ¬â¢t understand the harsh reality of being treated ill. The author brings up the consumerism theory as one of the explanation. He stated, ââ¬Å"Man, it occurs to me, is a joyful, buying-and-selling piece of work. I have been wrong, dead wrong, when Iââ¬â¢ve decried consumerism. Consumerism is what we are. It is, in a sense, a holy impulse. A human being is someone who joyfully goes in pursuit of things, brings them home, and then immediately starts planning how to get more. A human being is someone who wishes to improve his lot. â⬠Human tend to improve his situation. He always wants to get more than what he already has. Saunders brings up this topic in his essay as heââ¬â¢s looking for an answer that why people go there and work so hard but did not realize that their rights have been violated. The main issue of this essay is what people think and what the reality that people donââ¬â¢t see is. People only believed what they see. Thus somehow everyone has been victimized of this problem. Human beings live in a state of confusion where they canââ¬â¢t see pass through the phony. That is why the author has stated, ââ¬Å"In all things, we are the victims of The Misconception From Afar. There is the idea of a city, and the city itself, too great to be held in the mind. And it is in this gap (between the conceptual and the real) that aggression begins. â⬠The author started his essay with what he thought about Dubai before coming here and what he started thinking after coming here. He provided numerous short and interesting stories throughout the whole essay. Through those essays he starts showing the readers how thereââ¬â¢s a gap between the reality and conceptuality. By the end of the essay he proves his point that Dubai is not what we think it is. As the author successfully provided information on this aspect, it is liable that the main issue of the essay was the gap between the reality and the conceptuality.

piano man essays
piano man essays For my final project, after a lot of research and decision making, I chose Piano Man by Billy Joel. I believe this self-titled record, Piano Man, is truly a magnificent piece of art work, and is a must in everybody's music collection. William Martin Joel was born in the Bronx on May 9, 1949, and was raised in Long Island, New York. At the age of four, Joel began taking piano lessons after his parents noticed his fascination in classical music. He joined his first band about 12 years later, and was known to frequently play the piano in nightclubs. Since then, Billy Joel has recorded 12 albums. Since the beginning of his career, he has received five Grammy's. He was also inducted into the Song Writers Hall of Fame in 1992. Piano Man was recorded in 1971, and was the first song and title track to Joel's break through album, which was released by Columbia Records in 1973. By November of 1986, the album went double platinum. Piano Man was written by Billy Joel, and recorded with essentially with the usage of a piano, harmonica, as well as vocals, which were of Joel himself. This is an electrifying melody that was inspired by Joels experience playing at the Executive Room, which was a piano bar in Los Angeles. The theme of the song is basically of regular customers shuffling through the piano bar on a routine basis, especially Saturday nights, while they enjoy the music and slowly get intoxicated, trying to escape life for a while. From the beginning of the song to the end, Joel seems to describe characters based on real characters that he encountered while working at the Executive Bar. For example, Paul the real estate novelist was about a real estate broker that was writing a book, and there is Davy who's still in the navy, and probably will be for life is a young man that is in the service. The song continues to describe various characters in the bar scene as Billy ...

Distributed Systems Security Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
Distributed Systems Security - Essay Example Client and data encryption are highly recommended on the storage devices which means that corresponding blocks of data corresponds both in the directory and the file but does not know content interpretation, below are the various methods of ensuring secure distributed file system. The initial secure distributed file sharing system was the use of AFS which was later followed by the use of DFS. In the AFS system, servers store data on subtrees in the file system and use the Kerberos in the provision of the authenticated access to all trees. Every server is the one in the management of the meta-data which has full access to the file data. The DFS advanced in the options link in the encryption level in order to prevent the eavesdroppers from the discovery of file systems content (Kistler, 1995). This file server has improved the security of the NFS by providing the ability to encrypt the traffic in between the server and its clients by doing a strong authentication; the NFS has access to data by managing the entire file server. The security of a distributed file system calls for the use of unique and assigned id for every user in the system. This name must be used in line to a password created in the system, which helps the user to gain access in the system. This prevents unauthorized users to go into the system. Distributed file systems require a security protocol to check and verify the login names and password on protection to the system's file from illegal access, this makes the system to improve its security. Every user on the system must have a personal profile in which allows them to gain access to certain areas of the programs and files within the distributed system. This protocol assists in keeping the systemââ¬â¢s information and data confidential.
